Jaguar Unlikely to Test Franchitti

Thursday March 22nd, 2001

Dario Franchitti is not scheduled to test for the Jaguar Racing team this season, despite the claims from team chief Bobby Rahal that the Scottish driver did not get a fair chance in his test last year.

ChampCar driver Franchitti tested for Jaguar last summer but the team have since signed Pedro de la Rosa and Tomas Scheckter as test-drivers and Franchitti is unlikely to get another chance.

"In view of the driver portfolio we have available we have no reason to test another driver," said a team spokesperson.

"We most certainly have no plans to test Dario Franchitti at this point or at any point in the foreseeable future."

Franchitti is not high on the agenda for Jaguar and the team is just interested in improving their performance with their current testing programme.
