Trulli Joins GPDA to Replace Wurz

Thursday May 24th, 2001

Jordan driver Jarno Trulli on Thursday was elected by the rest of the Formula One drivers to join the Grand Prix Drivers Association (GPDA).

Italian Trulli replaces current McLaren test driver Alexander Wurz alongside world champion Michael Schumacher and Scot David Coulthard, who were already the representatives of the GPDA, which is aimed to voice the concerns of their members.

Originally founded in Monte Carlo in 1961, the Grand Prix Drivers Association was given new life when the late Ayrton Senna along with other drivers suggested to restart it after the accidents of Rubens Barrichello and Roland Ratzenberger during practice at the San Marino Grand Prix in 1994.
