Sunday Warm-Up - Monaco GP

Sunday May 27th, 2001

David Coulthard underlined his intent to win in Monaco for the second year in succession as he dominated Sunday morning warm-up in Monte Carlo.

Coulthard, who will start from pole position, was almost seven-tenths of a second quicker than title rival Michael Schumacher, who finished third behind McLaren's Mika Hakkinen.

Fourth-placed Rubens Barrichello was more than 1.5 seconds down on Coulthard with Heinz-Harald Frentzen, Ralf Schumacher and Eddie Irvine further back still.

Williams driver Juan Pablo Montoya was one of many drivers to run straight over the chicane during the session.

Minardi's Tarso Marques was the only driver to crash when he smashed into the barriers late in the session.
