Prost Relieved After First Point

Tuesday May 29th, 2001

Alain Prost believes the point scored for his team by Jean Alesi at last weekend's Monaco Grand Prix will finally take the pressure off after an intense period of dismal results.

Before the race Prost's team had not scored a point since 1999, and he now hopes they can build on the single point during the next races of the season.

"This first result will allow us to work with a little less pressure," said team boss Prost. "We know we still have a long way to go but it's great to be able to celebrate. The weekend has been very positive for us. Jean has done a great job and the team's constant efforts have finally paid off."

Alesi's sixth place finished off an impressive weekend for the Guyancourt-based team and although Monaco presents different challenges to most tracks, the team will have gained encouragement from the result.
