Williams Announce Willis Replacement

Monday November 5th, 2001

Following the departure of chief aerodynamicist Geoff Willis to British American Racing, the Williams team have named two young engineers to replace the Briton.

Nick Allcock and Jason Somerville will share Willis job next season, working with chief designer Gavin Fisher, who has just extended his contract with the Grove-based outfit. All of them will work under the supervision of technical director Patrick Head.

"The factory was told today," said a team spokesperson. "They do not yet have job titles, but they will take over the position. It is good to have two pairs of hands working together."

Somerville was brought in to work on the Le Mans project in 1999, while Allcock has been a long-serving member of Willis' aerodynamic department.
