Jenson Button will not feel added pressure in his second season with the Renault team, despite the signing of Spanish star Fernando Alonso as test driver.
Button, who joined the Renault-owned Benetton team in 2001 after a successful first Formula One season with Williams in 2000, failed to live up to the expectations this year, struggling to match the pace of teammate Giancarlo Fisichella.
But the Briton, whose contract with Renault will expire at the end of 2002, has claimed that having Alonso as a test driver will not affect him.
"There is no more pressure on me with Alonso testing for us - just the same focus and determination from me to get the job done," Button told Autosport.
"In fact, I'm looking forward to the year ahead. F1 has always been a pressure cooker and it is no different now to how it was last year."
20-year old Alonso impressed in his first season in Formula One, and despite driving for the small Minardi team and not scoring any points, the Spaniard has been tipped as a future winner.
