Burti Joins Ferrari as Test Driver

Friday November 16th, 2001

Ferrari announced on Friday that Brazilian Luciano Burti will become a test driver for the team in 2002.

Burti, who competed with the Jaguar and Prost teams in 2001, suffered a heavy accident at the Belgian Grand Prix and was forced to miss the final events of the year, being replaced at Prost by Czech driver Tomas Enge.

"I'm very happy to be part of Ferrari," said Burti. "For sure, I prefer to be testing and working for a top team than racing for a small team where the lack of performance would let me chase only for intermediate positions."

26-year old Burti will be working alongside Ferrari's current test driver Luca Badoer.
