Head Calls for Ralf to Improve Testing Approach

Thursday November 29th, 2001

Williams technical director Patrick Head has criticised Ralf Schumacher, suggesting the German driver should imitate his teammate Juan Pablo Montoya during testing sessions.

"At tests, he (Ralf) hasn't got much patience to check through data with the engineers, to study the next day's programme or to discuss things he doesn't like in the car," Head told German magazine Auto Motor und Sport.

"Juan does all that and thus has a better understanding for the car."

Ralf Schumacher, younger brother of four-time World Champion Michael, won three races in 2001 to Montoya's single victory at the Italian Grand Prix, but the Colombian driver overshadowed his more experienced teammate in the final part of the year.

Head's comments come after Schumacher had claimed that the Grove-based outfit favoured the Colombian over him in the past season.
