Hakkinen Undecided Over F1 Comeback in 2003

Friday November 30th, 2001

Two-times Formula One World Champion Mika Hakkinen says he needs more time before deciding if he will return in 2003 after a year off.

"It depends on so many things," the Finn, who has decided to sit out of the 2002 season, said on Friday when asked about his comeback plans.

"I will not make any decision before the middle of next year," he told reporters during a visit to a motor show in the German city of Essen. "When I decide to come back there will no doubt be a car for me."

Hakkinen has chosen to take a break because he wanted to spend more time with his wife Erja and baby son Hugo.

"He started walking three days ago," Hakkinen said of his little boy. "It will be exciting to see him grow up and hear him talk for the first time."
