Toyota Complete Endurance Test at Paul Ricard

Thursday October 11th, 2001

The Toyota Formula One team returned from Asia to test at the Paul Ricard circuit in France, where the Japanese outfit have established their base.

After testing at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia, Scot Allan McNish completed nearly 200 laps in a four-day testing session at the French track, as Toyota continued their preparations before making their Formula One debut next season. No times were issued.

"At this test we concentrated mainly on endurance running," said McNish. "We additionally carried out brake tests as well as some more pit-stop practice. It has been nice to come back to Paul Ricard, especially with the new circuit layout, and in general I am quite happy."

Team manager Ange Pasquali was also pleased with the recently-revamped Paul Ricard circuit: "This was the first time for us on the new Paul Ricard track," he said. "The new circuit profile is really state-of-the-art and it is good for us to learn about the new features and to establish our base for the future."

McNish and teammate Mika Salo will now travel to Japan, to test at the Suzuka circuit at the end of October.
