Jordan Drivers Fail to Shine at Interlagos

Friday March 29th, 2002

Jordan Drivers Fail to Shine at InterlagosThe Jordan team failed to shine in today's practice for the Brazilian Grand Prix, with both their drivers finishing near the bottom of the timesheets.

"We don't seem to have managed to make the progress other teams have but the car still felt quite good, just a bit more nervous," said Giancarlo Fisichella after setting the 16th quickest time at the Interlagos circuit, the Italian concentrating on set-up work for Sunday's race.

Teammate Takuma Sato, making his Formula One debut this year with the Silverstone-based squad, endured another problematic day after being penalised for leaving the pitlane while the red lights were still on.

As a result of the penalty, the rookie, who crashed into the back of his teammate at the Malaysian Grand Prix two weeks ago, will lose his fastest time in tomorrow's qualifying. Sato, however, was satisfied with the progress made despite setting the 19th fastest time.

"The second session was particularly difficult as we couldn't balance the car well and lost a lot of running time making changes in the garage," he said. "Overall the sessions were productive and we had no problems with the car."
