Another Heartache for Disappointed Barrichello

Sunday March 31st, 2002

Another Heartache for Disappointed RBRubens Barrichello had nothing to celebrate after yet another heartbreaking Brazilian Grand Prix for the Ferrari driver.

The Brazilian hero, driving Ferrari's F2001 chassis, led Sunday's Grand Prix for three laps before his car slowed and he was forced to cruise bumpily across the infield before coming to a halt.

It was Barrichello's 150th Formula One race and there was nothing to celebrate, after his eighth successive failure to finish in his home race.

"It was hydraulic pressure, no gears, no drive, no nothing," said Barrichello, who is also yet to score a point this year or complete a full distance. "I was just driving flat out, that's all I could do."

"I'm disappointed but there's nothing I could have done about it. I am driving as fast as I can, and in some ways we could say that I have retired when leading in each of the three races.

"It's been a bad beginning to the year. I had so many problems yesterday, but I am still confident."

Teammate Michael Schumacher, who was racing the team's new F2002 car, won the race and is now 24 points ahead of Barrichello.
