The RAC British Grand Prix at Silverstone has sold out for 1997.

Silverstone, located 3 miles (5 km) south of Towcester in Northamptonshire, England was first used in October of 1948. Using the roads and runways of a military bomber base, the initial layout was in the shape of that of an X. Shortly after, roads were laid out that give its familiar shape of today. However, the track has undergone many recent significant changes, the most notable at Woodcote and Abbey Curve. For 1997, we will see changes to Stowe and Luffield. During recent tests, Johnny Herbert and David Coulthard commented that it is now virtually impossible to overtake in 50% of the circuit.

This will be the 31st World Championship race at Silverstone and 51st championship race held in Great Britain
