Alain Prost has been allowed to move his team from the Magny-Cours to a location near Paris. Prost, who even threatened to leave Formula One last week, got into trouble on the move when the government change from right to left in France. The new government felt that the move was not in the best interest of the country. But after great political pressure they finally agreed.
The Williams team was testing at Barcelona. Villeneuve clocked a best time of 1m 23.84s. Test-driver Boullion tested the 1998 spec Williams with a time of 1m 28.64s.
Herbert got back into his Sauber to driver a 1m 01.44s.
Eddie Irvine tested two chassis and completed a long run in one, successfully. He clocked a best time of 1m 25.65s.
Coulthard topped the times on the circuit today with a 1m 24.23s. Barrichello was second with a time of 1m 25.59s. Heidfeld tested the 1998 McLaren. Takagi completed a Grand Prix simulation for Tyrrell.
Berger and Wurz were testing for Benetton at Santa Pod.
