Tora Takagi has signed a deal with the Tyrrell team for the 1998 season. Takagi is Tyrrell's test driver this season.

A team statement said: "Tora is already a star in his own country and we believe he has the potential to become Japan's best-ever driver."

The FIA will consider bringing back the Friday qualifying session next Wednesday. The session was dropped from a spectator point of view. If it were dry on Friday and wet on Saturday no team would come out. A suggestion is that both Friday and Saturday times count so you have to do well on both days.
