Volkswagon bids for Cosworth

Vickers has made a loose agreement with BMW for the sale of Rolls-Royce. The reported current bid by the German car manufacturer is (UKP) 340 million . The German newspaper 'Bild' reported yesterday that Volkswagon has now aggressively approached Vickers with an estimated bid of (UKP) 565 million for the British status symbol. In addition, Bild reports that Volkswagon has bid for Cosworth, which is owned by Vickers. Cosworth Racing, one of four divisions within Cosworth, has a four year Formula One deal with Ford signed in 1997 and currently supplies engines to Stewart, Tyrrell, and Minardi.
