The Ferrari mechanics are busy building a newer version of the F399. According to the team manager, Jean Todt, "the first element we must improve is the reducing and transferring of weight, in order to find the tenths in qualifying". Todt indicated that the F399 is a very good car however, "our aerodynamics are not up to par with the McLarens. We have to change this in the next ten days."

Both Eddie Irvine and test driver Luca Badoer will be in action at Fiorano, Ferrari's private test track, from Thursday to Sunday, working on the modifications and preparing the cars for Canada.
