Schumacher Given 'All-Clear' to Test Tomorrow

Thursday August 19th, 1999

Michael Schumacher has been given the all clear to resume his racing. The OK comes after the German's second examination, which was performed earlier this evening in Geneva. This comes 40 days after his Silverstone accident. Ferrari team said after the medical clearance was give, that Schumacher will drive a few testing laps tomorrow, at Mugello. Schumacher will join teammates Eddie Irvine and Mika Salo. The session will be closed to the public.

Speculation over a return for Belgium has, obviously, risen. At this point, it is still unclear whether he will race at Spa, but it may be safe to say that Michael Schumacher will be racing at the Italian Grand Prix. However, before entering either Grands Prix, Schumacher must pass a fitness check mandated by the FIA. Under Professor Sid Watkins' examination, Schumacher, buckled into the cockpit of the Ferrari, must exit the car in five seconds.
