Today was the third and final day of testing at Silverstone. For the first time over the three-day test, an improvement in the weather allowed the teams to complete a full day's running in dry conditions. McLaren's Mika Hakkinen was yet again the fastest, with the Stewart duo quite close behind, in second and third.

In the mean time, the second day of testing for Scuderia Ferrari-Marlboro began at Mugello on the dot, at 09:00. Both Mika Salo and Eddie Irvine worked mainly on the set-up of their cars. Suspension testing was also on the programme. Mika Salo did a total of 78 laps with a best time of 1:28.705, while Eddie Irvine completed 82 laps, the quickest being a 1:28.942. Tomorrow, testing continues at the Mugello circuit with both Eddie Irvine and Mika Salo driving, along with Michael Schumacher, who will drive a few laps.
