Jean Alesi will drive for the Gauloises Prost Peugeot team in the season 2000. Since the re-organisation of the technical team around the new Technical Director Alan Jenkins, the team says it will be advancing dramatically with Jean Alesi on board.

"I am very happy to see Jean in our team," says team chief Alain Prost. "I appreciate his enthusiasm, his motivation and his panache. With the great experience he has in Formula One, Jean will contribute to the further development of our team. I can't wait to see him behind the wheel of our car."

Jean Alesi also commented, saying: "Before I made this decision, I wanted a clear review of the technical project of the team and I am satisfied with the program. I am motivated by the idea of driving for Alain. Certainly it will be a difficult challenge, but I am very confident in the means that will be put at my disposal to be successful."
