Schumacher Reckons He's a Changed Man

Thursday December 14th, 2000

World Champion Michael Schumacher believes he is a changed man after finally winning the drivers' title for the Ferrari team, ending a 21-year wait.

Schumacher, who joined Ferrari in 1996 and finished second in the 1997 and 1998 championships (although he was disqualified from the WC in '97), admitted he is now a more relaxed person, and he reckoned his dream had finally come true.

"Obviously the victory has not changed my normal life," the German said. "My family life is exactly the same as it always was and so is my driving. My children do not care if I am world champion or not.

"But inside myself, I’ve changed a lot. I'm more relaxed, I made a dream come true."

Schumacher, who is now recovering from the operation he went through a couple of weeks ago to remove a pin from his leg, will be back on track next January.
