Schumacher Breaks Mugello Lap Record in the F1-2000

Thursday February 17th, 2000

Ferrari continued testing today at the Mugello track, with Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello driving the F1-2000 and F399 respectively.

Testing began at 09:30am. Both drivers spent most of the day working on the set-up of their cars. In the afternoon, Schumacher did a long run of twenty laps, his fastest lap was 1:26.506 - a new lap record for Mugello, about two tenths of a second faster than the previous record (1:26.704) which Schumacher set exactly a year ago. Barrichello, in the 1999 car, ran 57 laps with a best time of 1:27.268.

The scheduled programme was completed and there were no particular technical problems. Testing ended at 18:00pm and continues tomorrow.
