Eddie Irvine will miss Jaguar's three-day testing session at Monza after a recurring neck pain hit the Irishman again.
Irvine was already forced to miss the Silverstone testing last month due to his neck problems, and though the team said he will be in perfect condition for the upcoming British Grand Prix, the Jaguar driver will not be present at Monza this week.
"Eddie Irvine’s neck irritation relates to a facet joint capsule in the upper cervical area," said a team spokesman. "Like most injuries of this nature, time is the best healer and that's why we have decided to take this precautionary measure.
"The injury was treated last month and Eddie has since raced at the Grand Prix of Europe and the French Grand Prix without any reoccurrence. But because of back-to-back races, the injury has not fully settled and has been irritated again although it's no where near as painful as it was last month.
"There is absolutely no question of him not racing at Silverstone next week but we want to avoid aggravating the irritation any further.
"He shouldn't be feeling the injury at Silverstone. He is not due in the car for another week and a half, he'll be absolutely fine."
German Andre Lotterer will step in for Irvine at Monza.
