Update on Michael Schumacher's Condition

Wednesday July 18th, 2001

Formula One champion Michael Schumacher has been given the all-clear after further medical checks in the wake of his crash in testing at Monza on Tuesday, Ferrari said.

But the team added that it had not been decided whether the German, who leads the Championship by 37 points and is closing in on his fourth world title, would test again before his home Grand Prix on July 29.

Schumacher wrecked his Ferrari after losing control under heavy braking on the first day of testing at Monza and slammed into the guard rail at the second chicane.

"Further checks that the driver has undergone have ruled out any kind of physical injury," Ferrari said. "It has not yet been decided if and when he will test again before the German Grand Prix."

The team said the 32-year-old was at home in Switzerland where he had received massage treatment for aches and pains by his personal trainer Balbir Singh.
