Williams drivers Ralf Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya topped the times in Saturday's second practice session at the Nurburgring.
Schumacher produced a scintillating lap time of one minute and 15.355 seconds to go quickest in the session and his team-mate Montoya was just four-tenths slower as he outpaced the Ferraris and McLarens.
Ferrari driver Rubens Barrichello was third fastest ahead of the McLarens of Mika Hakkinen and David Coulthard, who both failed to improve on early times in the session.
Reigning champion Michael Schumacher did not set a time after spending the session in the garage with hydraulic problems, this ended him up in front of the Jordan pair Jarno Trulli and Heinz-Harald Frentzen.
Coulthard spun early in the session and Luciano Burti also lost control of his Prost briefly but both kept their cars running.
