The Benetton team are hoping to start winning races again in 2002 after closing on Sunday what was a tough season for the Renault-owned outfit.
Benetton drivers Giancarlo Fisichella and Jenson Button were unable to finish in the points at Sunday's Japanese Grand Prix despite a strong qualifying performance in the last race before the team are renamed Renault in 2002.
After being able to hold on to seventh place in the Constructors' Championship ahead of the Jaguar team, Benetton are looking forward to returning to winning ways next season.
"Despite today's result, the progress made by the team during its transition to Renault has been clearly demonstrated over the last few months," said the team's director of engineering Pat Symonds.
"We must now work hard through the winter to capitalise on this as we look to start winning races again next season."
Button was the only Benetton driver to finish today's race, just outside the points in seventh place, while teammate Fisichella, who will drive for Jordan in 2002, was forced to retire with a mechanical failure.
