Craig Pollock insisted on Saturday that the collapse of Reynard, the company headed by his fellow BAR shareholder Adrian Reynard, will not directly affect British American Racing.
Pollock set up BAR alongside Reynard and major shareholders British American Tobacco, and introduced the team to the Grand Prix grid in 1999. But, speaking in the Interlagos paddock, the former team chief insisted the Reynard's company, which was declared bankrupt on Friday, has nothing to do with the stake in BAR.
"Adrian Reynard has a stake in the team, it is nothing to do with Reynard (Motorsport)," Pollock said. "He remains as a shareholder of the team and as a director on the board."
Pollock holds a 35 percent stake in BAR but was ousted from his position as team boss at the start of the season by Prodrive boss David Richards, who has already cut staff by 15 percent just three months into his reign.
Richards is currently an employee of BAR and not a current shareholder, but Pollock said the new boss and his Prodrive company could join the board if the shares became available and added: "If they have the money to do it, then fine."
