David Coulthard clocked the fastest time in the morning warm-up for Sunday's Hungarian Grand Prix in his McLaren, outpacing world championship leader Michael Schumacher in a Ferrari by just one-tenth of a second.
Coulthard, who was fastest early in the session and then regained top spot later after Heinz-Harald Frentzen, in a Jordan, and Schumacher had clocked faster times, ended up with a best time of one minute 19.261 seconds.
Schumacher was second fastest with a time of 1:19.381 and his Ferrari team mate Rubens Barrichello third in 1:19.961.
The session at the Hungaroring circuit was incident-free apart from off-track excursions for Italian Giancarlo Fisichella, in a Benetton, German Nick Heidfeld in a Prost and Argentine Gaston Mazzacane in a Minardi.
Defending world champion Mika Hakkinen, in a McLaren, was fifth-fastest behind German Ralf Schumacher's Williams. Frentzen was sixth.
