Brake Lights to be Introduced this Weekend

Friday September 28th, 2001

World Champion Michael Schumacher revealed on Friday that the Formula One grid will run with brake lights on their cars during Saturday's free practice and qualifying sessions.

It was originally planned to incorporate the brake lights onto the back of the cars during Friday's practice sessions, but a hold up prevented teams from using the add-on.

Schumacher said: "We're going to use them tomorrow. The FIA was still in setup procedure, we couldn't use them (on Friday). For sure (we will use them) in the morning."

Team-boss Eddie Jordan also confirmed that the lights are planned for introduction on Saturday. "Yes, I understand we didn't put them on today but it is on for tomorrow or I understand that it's on for tomorrow," Jordan said.
