Sunday Warm Up - Hungarian GP

Sunday August 18th, 2002

World Champion Michael Schumacher returned to the top of the times in Sunday's morning warm-up for the Hungarian Grand Prix, after Ferrari teammate and pole sitter Rubens Barrichello spun off into the gravel.

Barrichello, who just pipped Schumacher in Saturday's qualifying, was left to settle for second best in the final half-hour practice session, finishing one tenth behind the German. Barrichello spun his car on the dusty track three minutes from the end.

Kimi Raikkonen, who will start from 11th - his worst qualifying position of the season - gave his Michelin-shod McLaren-Mercedes team a boost in the already warm conditions by finishing third, although he was still more than seven tenths behind Schumacher.

The Jordan Honda cars continued to show good form around the tight and twisty Hungaroring with Giancarlo Fisichella, who will start the race from fifth place, finishing the final practice session in fourth with teammate Takuma Sato fifth.

Ralf Schumacher, of Williams-BMW, was sixth, with countryman Nick Heidfeld in seventh as he and teammate Felipe Massa sandwiched David Coulthard's eighth placed McLaren-Mercedes, with Jenson Button tenth for Renault.

The Minardi pair finished bottom of the pile once again, with newcomer Anthony Davidson last, but just more than a tenth of a second slower than teammate Mark Webber.
