Schumacher Win in Question, Stewards Launch Inquiry

Sunday July 21st, 2002

Schumacher overtakes RaikkonenMichael Schumacher's victory at the French Grand Prix is under question after the officials at the circuit launched an inquiry into the behaviour of the newly re-crowned World Champion.

German Schumacher won the race after overtaking Kimi Raikkonen under yellow flags as the young Finn's McLaren-Mercedes slid wide after hitting a patch of oil from Allan McNish's car at the Adelaide hairpin.

McLaren boss Ron Dennis decided not to make an appeal but the race stewards called Schumacher and a member of Ferrari to join Dennis and Raikkonen in the stewards office and the result remains provisional.
