Schuey Loses Legal Battle Over Nude Painting

Friday February 16th, 2001

World Champion Michael Schumacher has lost a legal battle against a German art gallery which had a partially nude painting of himself on display.

After granting the Ferrari driver an injunction aimed to stop the gallery from showing the painting, a Stuttgart court has now overturned the injunction on the basis that the picture was only on display and not for sale, thus not breaching Schumacher's privacy.

The painting by Hungarian artist Peter Dardai had been displayed in a window at the gallery.

This is the second time this year that the three-time champion has been involved in a legal tangle, following the reports which claimed that his lawyers have been implicated with a break-in at a talent agency.
