De la Rosa Set to Replace Irvine

Sunday February 18th, 2001

Jaguar Racing are set to axe Eddie Irvine and replace him with Pedro de la Rosa, according to reports in Spain.

Irvine has come under scrutiny after he blasted the performance of the new R2 chassis and Prost test driver De la Rosa is reportedly in discussions with the Milton Keynes-based team.

The Ulsterman failed to live up to pre-season billing last season, but promised to power Jaguar up the grid this season following the arrival of new team chief Bobby Rahal.

Spaniard De la Rosa was ditched by Arrows in January and signed a two-year deal with Prost which includes the promise of a full-drive next season.
