Massa in Line for Ferrari Test Drive

Tuesday July 17th, 2001

Brazilian driver Felipe Massa could be in line to become Ferrari's second test driver next season, according to the latest reports in the Italian press.

20-year old Massa has been tipped as a future Formula One star following an amazing streak of success since he started competing in Europe last year, when he clinched the Italian and the European Formula Renault championships in his first attempt.

Massa is currently competing with the Draco team in the European F3000 Championship, where he has scored three wins in the first three races of the season and he could be announced as new Ferrari test driver for the 2002 season. The Paulista also finished in second place in the 24 Hours of Sicily at the Enna-Pergusa circuit last Sunday competing for the official Alfa Romeo team.

The Brazilian is expected to join Italian Luca Badoer, who will also continue testing for the Maranello-based outfit in 2002 after four years with them.
