Minardi Deny 'Ridiculous' Tuero Rumours

Tuesday July 31st, 2001

Minardi have categorically dismissed reports that Argentine Esteban Tuero will replace the under-pressure Tarso Marques at the small Italian team.

Rumours had surfaced after last weekend's German Grand Prix that Brazilian Marques could be on his way out of Minardi for Tuero, who drove for the team in 1998. But the speculation has been strongly dismissed by the team.

"Esteban Tuero had a brief career with Minardi, but that's ridiculous," a spokesperson for Minardi said today. "That's not going to happen at all and I don't know where it came from."

Marques' recent form has been poor after he failed to qualify for the British Grand Prix two weeks ago and he has never qualified higher than 20th position this season.
