Camel Tipped for Formula One Return

Wednesday March 21st, 2001

The Prost Grand Prix team could be on the verge of signing a major sponsorship deal with the Camel tobacco brand, according to reports on the Autosport website.

The French team, who are seeking a main sponsor since they lost the support from Gauloises at the end of the past season, could get the American company Camel to return to Formula One after an absence of eight years.

The RJ Reynolds-owned brand last sponsored the Williams and Benetton teams back in 1993.

According to the reports, the deal could be signed this year, and the French car could already wear the Camel livery at the San Marino Grand Prix, the fourth event of the 2001 season.
