Schumacher Denies Interest in Sauber

Monday March 26th, 2001

Michael Schumacher's press officer has dismissed claims that the triple world champion is interested in buying a stake in Sauber.

The German driver is one of several to have cut his teeth with the Sauber company before they entered Formula One, but reports that he is interested in buying into the team have been treated as speculation in the Schumacher camp.

The press officer refused to make an official comment on the suggestions, but hinted that the reports were simply unfounded rumours.

Red Bull's withdrawal from the Swiss team at the end of this season leaves shares open for purchase, but it seems very unlikely that Schumacher will take an early opportunity to move into team management.
