Bernoldi Set to Stay at Arrows in 2002

Thursday November 8th, 2001

Reports in the Brazilian press suggest that Enrique Bernoldi has already signed a contract to remain with the Arrows team in 2002, and that the announcement will be made in the next few days.

Since energy drink brand Red Bull announced it will continue to sponsor the Leafield-based team next season, the Brazilian driver's chances of staying at Arrows seemed to have increased.

Bernoldi has been backed by the Austrian company since he started racing in the F3000 championship three years ago.

The Arrows team, who will use Cosworth engines in 2002, already announced this year that Dutchman Jos Verstappen will stay with them next year.

Brazilian Bernoldi shone in qualifying in his rookie season, often outshining his more experienced teammate Verstappen, but was unable to score any points.
