FIA Deny Plans to Cancel Japanese GP

Monday October 8th, 2001

Formula One's governing body, the FIA, issued a statement on Monday morning to quash rumours that this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix is in doubt.

The FIA statement read: "Information circulated on the internet suggesting that the Japanese Grand Prix is in doubt is completely untrue."

The reports are believed to have surfaced after America started their assault on Afghanistan on Sunday. But the final race of the season, at the Suzuka circuit, will definitely go ahead from October 12-14.
