Wilson Set for Minardi Drive

Monday December 16th, 2002

Wilson Set for Minardi DriveBriton Justin Wilson is expected to be announced as a Minardi driver for the 2003 season tomorrow after he successfully managed to come up with an estimated £2m needed for the drive.

The 1.90 metre (six foot three inch) tall former Formula 3000 champion had already visited Minardi's Faenza factory earlier this year and his height proved to be no obstacle to drive for the Anglo-Italian squad. Sheffield-born Wilson had missed out on a seat at Jordan because of his frame.

Minardi, who will use Cosworth engines next year, have scheduled a press conference tomorrow in London at 11am local time to make an "important announcement."

24-year old Wilson raced in the Telefonica World Series this year and already tested for the Minardi team in the past.
