Alesi Linked to McLaren Test Drive

Monday February 11th, 2002

Alesi Linked to McLaren Test DriveFrenchman Jean Alesi could get behind the wheel of a Formula One car again after being linked to a test drive with the McLaren team.

According to unconfirmed reports, 37-year old Alesi had a seat fitting at McLaren last week and could test for them in order to help the Woking-based squad in their acclimation to the Michelin tyres.

The Mercedes-powered McLarens, who last year used Bridgestone tyres, will run on Michelins this season.

Alesi, who retired from Formula One at the end of 2001, used both tyre manufacturers last season, as the veteran Frenchman drove for both the Michelin-shod Prost squad and for Jordan, who used Bridgestone.

Alesi will race in the German DTM touring car series for Mercedes this season after signing a two-year deal in November last year.
