Jaguar Deny Sale Rumours

Sunday October 10th, 2004

Jaguar Deny Sale RumoursJaguar Racing managing director Dave Pitchforth on Sunday denied rumours that the Ford-owned team has been sold and said the claims had been made up from a misquoted radio interview.

The team was put up for sale in September and team chief Tony Purnell, who is not present at this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix, claims to have several parties interested in the team.

Reports had suggested that the team had been sold to Red Bull but Pitchforth said: "Somebody said that I'd said that yesterday but I went back and listened to the radio interview and it didn't say that."

Pitchforth insisted nothing is yet decided on the sale of the team but said, while they have a good relationship with Red Bull, that the team is in "various" negotiations with possible backers.
