Charles Whiting, a race delegate of the FIA, testified before the court in the Senna trial that modifications had been made to Senna's car without permission. He added however that if the Williams team had submitted the changes they would have been approved.

He also stated that the black box, which belonged to the Williams team, had been damaged in the crash.

He stated: "I authorized the Williams representatives to remove the black box immediately after the accident - but the efforts made at the circuit to read the data were all in vain."

Although a tyre engineer testified yesterday that the black box was intact when he removed it.

The late Ayrton Senna will get a bronze statue overlooking the Tamburello curve at Imola (Italy). It is expected that it will be revealed to the public on April 27.
