Michael Schumacher started another test for the Ferrari team. He wanted to complete a Grand Prix distance but only managed some laps before he spun off into the barrier, damaging the gear-box. He still completed 18 laps with a best time of 1m 25.208s. Schumacher used the 046/2 engine.

"It was my mistake. I drove too fast on cold tyres," commented Schumacher.

Eddie Irvine completed a tyre test for Goodyear. He completed 47 laps with a best time of 1m 25.179s. Irvine used the 046/1 engine.

Ukyo Katayama tested for the Minardi-Hart team. He clocked a best time of 1m 26.73 (39 laps). The Minardi team solved their fuel problem which they had during the last Grand Prix, they were unable to solve the brake problem.
