Max Mosley, President of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), wants to change the number of races per season from 16 to 20. " I want 20 races per season but only on Saturday and Sunday. Friday's sections would be left out. I think we could reach an agreement with the teams but it is not my decision alone".

"Starting in 2,001 there will be an "all weather" tire that will be used. This tire will have to be used in the dry as well as in rainy conditions. Today's tires allow for to much speed", said Mosley.

Mosley went on to say "If Ecclestone decides to retire, the former Ferrari teamchef Marco Piccinini will be the first candidate to replace him." The Italian is currently a member of the eight FIA senates and functions as acting FIA President for the Motorsport division. From 1978 till the death of Enzo Ferrari in 1988, Marco Piccinini was the teamchef at Scuderia Ferrari-Marlboro.
