Spanish GP to Stay at Barcelona until 2006

Sunday May 7th, 2000

The Spanish Grand Prix will be held at the Circuit de Catalunya, at Montmelo near Barcelona, until 2006, Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone said on Sunday.

"We have extended our contract for at least another six or seven years," Ecclestone said.

President of the Catalan government Jordi Pujol added, "All agreements are subject to discussions with the EU (European Union).

"The Catalan government and the Spanish government are involved with the EU over some questions, despite this there is a very strong agreement. There is a new agreement until 2006."

The Spanish Grand Prix has been held at the Circuit de Catalunya since 1991.
