Button Predicts Sustained Schumacher Dominance

Wednesday August 22nd, 2001

Benetton driver Jenson Button has predicted that German Michael Schumacher will continue to dominate Formula One for years to come.

British driver Button, who admitted when he joined the sport last year that Schumacher was his hero when growing up, believes Schumacher will always be the man to beat while he is in Formula One.

"He is obviously a great driver and he has to be special to win four World Championships already," said Button. "It is important that he is in a good team, but he is a fantastic driver and has built it up.

"He will go on as long as he can be successful and as long as he has the potential for more wins. Or until he or his wife get bored. I can't see why he cannot carry it on for a long time."

Schumacher has the chance to become the most successful Formula One driver of all time at next week's Belgian Grand Prix. If he wins there, he will pass Alain Prost's record of 51 Grands Prix wins.
