Malaysia's Grand Prix hopeful Alex Yoong finished slowest of the three drivers at Mugello on Friday, but still impressed some important visitors with his pace around the Italian circuit.
His country's sports minister Dato Hishammuddin Tun Hussein and members of Yoong's major backers Magnum watched the young driver, who is on the verge of a Formula One drive with Minardi.
"It is pleasing for myself to see how Alex is performing," said sports minister Hussein. "Everything is in place for him being able to gain his superlicence and I am looking forward to the day when we can welcome the first Malaysian driver into Formula One."
