Benetton Strike Problems Again

Friday March 16th, 2001

Jenson Button, todayThe struggling Benetton team were beset by problems once again as they continued to set disappointing times in Friday's free practice at Malaysia's Sepang circuit.

Giancarlo Fisichella gave the team some hope with a 13th fastest time, but Jenson Button ended the session down in 17th.

"I didn't get any timed laps completed in the first session as there was a problem with the temperature of the gearbox," said Button. "In the afternoon session we focused primarily on set-up and tried a few different directions."

Fisichella's problems, meanwhile, centred around his car's electronics. But he did have enough time to improve on his set-up in the afternoon session.

"We still have some understeer in the slow corners," said Fisichella. "But considering I lost so much time this morning due to the battery change on my car, I am pleased with the progress we have made."
