Mika Hakkinen hit back after his disappointing qualifying performance as he topped the times in Sunday morning warm-up in Austria.
Finn Hakkinen was marginally fastest than McLaren team-mate David Coulthard while Heinz-Harald Frentzen was third for Jordan.
Michael Schumacher suffered problems as he ended fifth in the timesheets with his car stopping at the end of the pit-lane with flames coming from the exhaust.
Rubens Barrichello was the first of the Ferraris in fourth, and Kimi Raikkonen ran well to claim seventh just ahead of Jacques Villeneuve's British American Racing car.
